Long Gone Spring Flowers

While we are struggling to deal with the heat and humidity of summer, I can’t help but think of the flowers that appeared a month or so ago in the waning days of Spring.  I just love the photo above.  It shows the drama of garlic flowers emerging!

We have a couple of rose bushes that usually flower once each Spring.   Then pesky beetles attack them and basically nothing is left for the rest of the season.

Below are columbine flowers.  It’s a dependable perennial in our garden, but it’s anyone’s guess as to where they will appear each year.

The azalea flowers were a beautiful red.

The name of this perennial escapes me.  It flowers for a short time and then I’m left with long green leaves that I don’t know what to do with in the garden. . . .

But this bee knew what to do with the flowers!

Here is my all time favorite flowering shrub:  viburnum.  I had this one in a previous post–though at the time, I forgot the name of the shrub.  It’s such a beauty that I have to give it a second appearance.  The fragrance from these pinkish flowers are out of this world!
